Braving the outdoors

Back when we had our dog Aiden was terrified to go outside because she would try to play with him (sadly a little too roughly). For months after we gave her to a new family Aiden still wouldn't go outside he was so afraid of her and didn't believe that she was really gone. He has finally(in the last couple months) accepted that she's not coming back and been going outside with us. Today we decided to go out and have some fun in the backyard for a bit since he now loves being out there.

He even kicked instead of threw his soccer ball in the net. Then he wanted to play cars. Here is how it went...

Aiden - Mommy I want to share cars with you, will you play with me?
Me - No sweetie I don't want to play cars but I'll play soccer with you (crawling around on the ground, he is insistent you get on the ground with him, while 5+ months pregnant is not exactly comfortable!)
Aiden - NO! I want to share cars! I want you to play cars with me! I'm going to throw my lawn mower!...

...and knock down my soccer ball! (after which he proceeded to storm off. Appropriate reaction don't you think? Sheesh.)

After an apology to mom and a discussion about how mom would not be crawling around on the ground I sat on the steps and kind of moved a car around so he would be happy lol. Look at that face? He REALLY wanted me to play cars haha.

This face is my nemesis. And has a rather gross explanation so feel free to skip the next paragraph unless you are curious haha. My son has dead skin on his lip and while normally this would be no big deal he is EXTREMELY protective of it. He won't even give me kisses anymore, I am NOT allowed to kiss him on the lips and he will only smush his cheek up against mine and kiss the air to give me a kiss. It's ridiculous. And he's always playing with it (not picking, just always touching it which of course dries it out more). Even in his sleep. No I'm not kidding... Anyways. Because of this hanging dead grossness that I am not allowed to touch that because he won't stop messing with can not even be helped by chapstick, he now smiles very oddly. Sigh. Thus this face.

And try as I might to get a normal smile out of him lately

Between lip face and his 3 year old goofball personality this is all I get.

He pushes down so hard on the lawn mower that it won't move and then he gets frustrated. So instead he pulls it. Also he calls it a "drawn mower"

Don't be deceived by this. He is still pulling it backwards.

After that mom was cold and tired so I headed inside and he said he wanted to stay outside. This was very surprising and I didn't expect it to last long but he stayed out there for another hour just playing! It was amazing! I'm so glad he loves it outside now (even though it still makes me sad from time to time to go out to my Lexie-less backyard).
