Cancun

Jeremy's work trip this year was to Cancun again and after OKing it with my doctor, and making sure I wasn't at risk of exposure to the Zika virus, we went ahead and decided to go! It was so relaxing and such a nice break that we got to have before taking on the stress of this move and building a new home and having a baby. I love my babymoons!

The first day we went to a new little town center they had build inside the Mayakoba resorts, it was really cute and I got some really pretty earrings there

See those tiny little two steps in front of the Catholic church? Look pretty harmless right? Well if you are huge pregnant, uncoordinated and forget they are there they are death. I forgot they were there and I was putting my sunglasses on (of course, THAT'S how I get hurt) caught the corner of the step and my ankle bent in half one way, then while trying to regain my balance I caught it on the second step and it bent in half the other way and I fell down (on my butt thankfully). Baby was totally fine, she probably thought the sudden fall was fun, but my ankle was destroyed. I was focused on not falling on baby and not smashing my expensive camera gear into the concrete so unfortunately my ankle was not a priority as I was falling lol. A security guard ran over and helped Jeremy help me to a chair and then back to the hotel. Fun first day right?

We got back to the hotel and they sent their head of security to wrap my foot up and ice it to reduce swelling and bruising and put some lotion on it (safe for pregnancy, I checked!) to help with the pain. Safe to say I was out of commission the rest of the day so we ordered room service and watched movies.

The next day I still couldn't walk on it so we had the hotel bring me crutches. They were next to impossible to maneuver while huge pregnant so I ended up in a wheelchair. I was embarrassed about it so we mostly stayed in the hotel room. Jeremy went to golf for a few hours and I watched movies and ordered room service. Once I was feeling a bit better I tried the warm hot tub to help with the pain a little.

My ankle was a bit better, enough that for short distances I could put some weight on it so I was able to go to dinner unassisted

The next day we went to Playa Del Carmen to get the kids some souvenirs and some for some friends. I got to get some gelato which was nice and it is such a fun place on 5th Avenue but after a few blocks on my ankle I was pooped so we headed back to the hotel.

We met up with some friends for a nature tour on the boat through the resorts

All these guys are just chilling in the water right outside the rooms of the resort haha. When they built the resort they wanted to protect the wildlife in the area so they have the beach area and then some winding roads through protected mangroves before getting back to the rooms so all the animals live in the mangroves. It's pretty neat! They don't really do stuff like that in the U.S. so it really is a unique thing to see. You really just feel like you're tucked into this private part of nature at this resort, it's stunning. After the tour we got some DELICIOUS tostadas in the little town square(which we loved so much we went back for more another day) and then headed back to our rooms so the guys could go to a work meeting and we could get ready for the corporate dinner.

I think breakfast was my favorite meal. I mean look at that. Ice cream french toast? Delicious.

One of the days we got back and saw that our butler (who was the nicest woman ever, she was so worried about my ankle and made sure I had everything I needed, it was so sweet.) had left us a baby gift. How cute is that? Such a sweet memento of our trip

Between my ankle and all the rain we didn't make it to the beach until the very last day, but it was so relaxing. I really really miss living by the beach sometimes.

Sorry these pictures are all out of order, this is a photo of the kids hanging out with Tina while we were gone. How could you not miss those adorable faces? Kaitlyn gets kind of overwhelmed and a little confused I think, by FaceTime, so we were worried she didn't really miss us haha. When we got home she was SO excited. They were asleep (long story I'll get to that later) and so the next morning I went in and she kept going "Mom? MOMMY!?! MOMMY!!!!!" and ran and hugged me and then when Jeremy had to run out to get some groceries she completely lost it and blocked the door holding her arms out and sobbing "no door daddy, no door". It was so sad but so adorable.

Aiden LOVES coconut trees because one of his favorite books is Chicka Chicka Boom Boom so we took a picture of one for him. He was SO excited haha.

The jets from the hot tub felt so good on my ankle, I suddenly realized it was a necessity that the bathtub in our new home MUST have jets haha. Obviously too late to benefit from for this injury but with my obvious clumsiness there will be more someday haha.

It was sad to leave but we were also ready to be home with the kids. Unfortunately because we have the WORST luck with traveling our flight was delayed. The pilots were stuck on the east coast in that horrible blizzard that swept the whole area out there and so they were two hours late getting in. Once they got in we were able to get home only to realize it also had started dumping snow at home and the plows hadn't been through yet so we were making a slow 25 miles an hour all the way from Salt Lake, hoping that the idiots in big trucks thinking they could go 40 who were sliding all over the road (like back and forth across three lanes. GEEZ.) weren't going to kill us. We finally made it home exhausted and frustrated because the kids couldn't stay up that late waiting for us. Overall, minus the rain, my ankle and the trip home it was a really good trip. We really got to relax and enjoy the nice warm weather and scenery.
