The first day we got there and checked out the hotel and the beach and went to the corporate dinner. I was very brave this trip and tried tons of new sea food and liked most of it so I am pretty proud of myself lol. I tried crab legs(ILOVECRAB) and clams(ew.) and some hawaiian fish that was delicious. This year we stayed at The Fairmont and it was a beautiful hotel, there were things we liked more and less than the Four Seasons but overall it was an amazing hotel and I can't complain!
The view from our room was better this year, we were closer to the beach so that was nice.
The second day we went to the shops to get some souvenirs and then I got a bad migraine so I relaxed on the beach while Jeremy went snorkeling. HE SAW TURTLES!!
He said he saw like 5 turtles and that they were an arm's reach away from him, they would just float around in the water and almost run into him. So crazy, sad I missed it!
The next day we went on a "hike" in the morning (apparently all the good places to hike you have to have a car to get to so the only thing we could do was the beach walk. Next year we'll have to rent a car)
Found the spot where we did my maternity photos last year, and now I have a 1 year old...where has the time gone!
Found some giant crabs hopping from rock to rock, can you find it? It looks small in this photo but it was huge I was just far away and not quick enough.
See it now?
Jeremy caught 2 fighting (one is on top of the other), they really blend into the rocks
We did some swimming at the beach, makes me miss Florida except the seaweed (thankfully Maui is free of the junk lol). I love the beach though, someday I'll have to move back to a beach.
Oh and when I first got into the water, a crab crawled over my foot(I just felt this prickling over my foot) and I backed up and it kept getting my toes. It was tiny enough it didn't hurt but it was annoying haha!
After swimming and hiking and everything it was hot so I wanted the famous Hawaiian shaved ice. Tasted like any other shaved ice but it looks cooler and hits the spot on a hot day. Jeremy took this oh so flattering photo mid bite lol.
That night we ate dinner at Ferraro's at the Four Seasons because we weren't able to get a reservation last year. It was SO YUMMY. I got crab and prawns in a squid ink pasta with a lemon wine sauce, it was seriously so yummy. I love crab and I actually liked the prawns better than I like shrimp. Here was our view from dinner. Miss those romantic views!
Friday it was a bit cloudy out and the water was rough so we decided to take a cab over to Kihei to eat some yummy fish tacos at Maui Tacos and do some shopping at all the shops and flea markets there. It was a neat little town and a fun trip. That night we had another big corporate dinner on a golf course that was beautiful.
We saw a tornado over the water (tornadic waterspout technically...I looked it up haha) which was neat!
Saturday we went out for one last snorkel(no turtles, boo) and then just enjoyed the beach and the day until it was time to go home.
Nemo fish, I've decided we're going to see a new one every year haha. Last year we saw Gill. I don't remember this guy's name.
View from dinner. We ate at Nick's Fish Market in The Fairmont and it was seriously my favorite meal. I got salmon but the complexity of flavors was so intense it was seriously the best food I've ever put in my mouth. LOVE.
Last view of the beach, goodbye Maui!
Now you'd think that was the end and we flew home, no problems. WRONG. Our flight was delayed an hour and we missed our connecting flight, and the oh so wonderful(never flying AGAIN) American Airlines didn't have any sympathy or another flight for 7 HOURS. By the time we got home it had been almost 24 hours since the shuttle picked us up from the hotel to take us to the airport. It was not a good day. But aside from that the trip was great and I miss Maui already.
