Kaitlyn's Nursery

Don't mind that these are terrible snapshots but the light was dim and I was too tired to take really nice photos but here is Kaitlyn's finished nursery. I spent a lot of time planning it out and making it all perfect and it was worth the work because it's gorgeous. I chose blue for the walls so that the pink wouldn't be overwhelming and I wanted grey in the fabric for a more calming color than brown or beige. It all wrapped together nicely :) She is one spoiled little girly (although she probably could care less what her room looks like...ha!)

Everywhere I looked for little girl bedding it was either outrageously expensive or looked like someone threw up pastel pink and purple and cheesy butterflies or ladybugs, etc. So I asked my mother in law how much she loved me and if she would make me some bedding and she said YES! I was so excited so I went shopping for fabric and found a combination I LOVED by Michael Miller and so that is how my bedding came about. She did an amazing job and I absolutely love it! It's so cute!!!

The mobile I also made and it was incredibly tedious but it turned out perfect so I'd say definitely worth it. Here's the tutorial. I chose birds because originally I had wanted a bird theme for her room but I found the zoo fabric that I loved that had birds in it so I wanted to pull the birds out more with the mobile and tie all the nursery colors together with it.

She sure loves it anyways :). Those muslin wraps are MY FAVORITE. They are perfect swaddling wraps and I lucked out and found some with birds on it in her exact nursery colors. What are the chances?!!?

I made the curtains. No tutorial for that, I just sewed panels together. Make sure you separate the seams and press them like that instead of both sides of the seam in the same direction so the panels don't bunch at the seams. I chose to have them go to the ceiling and mounted them slightly outside the window to let in as much light as possible and make the room look taller. Worked out great!

And here she is happy to be in her finished nursery! Which we will be transitioning her over to soon.

I love it :) Next up her baby blessing and my mother in law just got here with her dress and it is GORGEOUS!
