The rest of the day was spent getting my business ready to launch and getting everything together for my Grand Opening Giveaway. It's all finished and went smoothly. The giveaway goes on until next Friday if anyone wants to enter ;).
Then my husband surprised me by taking me to...The Melting Pot in Salt Lake!! It's a 4 course fondue and it was AMAZING. Exactly what I needed after a stressful afternoon, it was fun and different and I felt pampered so I'd give it an A+ :).
This was my "Nohito" (mohito without alcohol). It was mango with mint leaves and was very unusual but delicious
1st course was a cheese fondue. We got a spinach artichoke cheese and they brought out a variety of things to dip and my favorite was the apples. Oddly enough they went together really well!
I don't have pictures of the rest but 2nd course was a salad, 3rd course was tuna, shrimp, 2 different tenderloins and chicked in a broth with a variety of sauces to choose from. 4th course was chocolate of course! I loved it! I got boots and a new coat for my birthday but I don't have pictures yet ha. Thanks Jeremy for making my birthday so special :)
Now for Aiden's birthday! Can you believe my baby is 2!?! I sure can't. Where did the time go? He had a cold on his birthday but he was such a trooper anyways! We had a party in the morning and his Grandma Thompson and Aunt Stacey and her family were able to come. He loved being the center of attention haha. He loves cars and trains and especially loves "Ting" and "Mamer" from CARS so we did a CARS theme for his birthday.
(there were supposed to be 2 balloon bunches tied to his chair and 2 on the floor but 3 of the bunches got tangled so it's more of a balloon clump haha)
It's ok though because Aiden loved them anyway
The cake was supposed to have M&Ms around the sides but we needed the cake as soon as they opened and they didn't get it done and we were in a hurry but it still looks good (and was delicious too!)
Aiden wasn't going to make it through "Happy Birthday" without Lightning
He was eyeing mater the whole time
See those barely open lips? That's how Aiden blows out candles. First time was a miss
So we flipped the cake around and he got it that time
Aiden liked peeking in the gift bags before pulling anything out. He got some adorable books from Aunt Stacey and her family. This little man loves books and I'm sick of reading the same ones all the time so thanks Aunt Stacey!
Aiden liked to open the presents tiny tears at a time
But eventually he got them open! CARS squinkies from mom and dad
He started getting frustrated with his tiny tearing capabilities but with some help from Daddy he got it open enough to see what it was "A train!"
yesssss!
And some cars (which yes I individually wrapped because we got Aiden a big thing this year instead of lots of little things but I wanted him to have enough to have fun unwrapping)
A card with "a pwane, a boat, a train" with stickers from Grandma Thompson! He loved pointing to them all and saying the words
Some tools from Grandma Thompson! He loves getting into Daddy's tools and we can never find them when we need them so he was excited to have his own. Thanks Grandma!
And the big finale gift was a....train table!! We needed something for that corner of the living room and we have a melt down anytime he has to leave one at the toy store so we thought we'd get him his own. He LOVES it!
After hitting (thanks nursery...) his cousin once he got over having to play with it first and shared with his cousins really well. Grandma got some pictures of them playing together so I'll have to post them once she gets home and can get them to me.
After the party Aiden had a nap and then we headed out to Discovery Gateway. We haven't been since before he was walking so it was fun to go now that he's a bit older. His favorite part was the "tractows"
"HI mommy"
Especially the lift that the poor kid tried and failed to work on his own
We thought he'd love the water area since he loves boats so much (which funny story he still associates Nana and Papa Jones with from the week we spent with them at the lake, when Nana called he kept saying "boat?". And whenever Jeremy is at work Aiden is convinced he's really on the boat.) but he was mostly uninterested in it.
But he loved the ping pong balls and stole them from the water and from that point on they didn't leave his hands. Here is his frustration at discovering it was harder than he thought to climb stairs with 3 balls in hand
"oh no!" He was very concerned that one of them was dented
"help help", too bad mom and dad couldn't fix it
Aiden and his cousin Grant (who also loves trains, he even got his own train table too!) actually share a birthday and so after discover gateway we headed over to Stacey's for Grant's party. Aiden's cold had reached a climax for the day and so Aiden was pretty done with life by the time we got there. It was quickly remedied when he snuck in and stole one of Grant's new trains while Grant wasn't looking (stinker). Overall it was a really good day and Aiden seemed to enjoy it so I'm glad he had a good 2nd birthday.
